INSEA Portal for Data Access launched! - 9 January 2008

As part of the INSEA-project partners are working on the implementation of a data management system for providing overviews of available data sets and products and providing regulated access to these data and products of INSEA partners for the INSEA regions.
This work is coordinated by partner MARIS and recently has resulted in the launch of a portal for identifying available data sets and thereby paving the way towards data access. A key element in the data identification and access to in-situ data is the Common Data Index (CDI) metadatabase, which is adopted from the EU supported SeaDataNet project (see www.seadatanet.org). This CDI catalogue follows the ISO19115 metadata standard. For INSEA a dedicated CDI portal has now become operational, including an attractive combined alpha-numeric – geographical user interface.

Visit the INSEA – CDI portal at: www.insea.info/cdi

At present it contains entries for in-situ data sets for the INSEA regions in France and Greece. Further work is underway for covering also the Portuguese region and including also remote sensing data sets.
