Data Integration System for Eutrophication Assessment in Coastal Waters |

|
| |
Site Description |
Eutrophication in coastal areas is an increasing concern for environmental management agencies, municipal governments and coastal residents. Within this work package we aim to understand the results and consequences of approaches to deal with eutrophication that were previously implemented in each site, as well as to establish a clear purpose for the data products that will be delivered by the project. The forcing function that defines the necessity for these data products is the legal framework and the water managers responsible for their implementation.
In order to test the approaches that will be investigated in the framework of InSea, three sites with different characteristics have been selected: Tagus estuary in Portugal, Gulf of Fos in France and Gulf of Pagasitikos in Greece.
For each study site, entities with direct interests in water management were identified and contacts were established; in some cases, these entities have made a commitment to support the project by allowing use of their databases and by becoming end-users of the project’s results.
